“From Laguna to the Canyons” will showcase the beautiful formations of beaches, dunes, and lagoons along the coast, from the region of Laguna and Farol de Santa Marta to the slopes of the Serra, where the largest concentration of canyons in Latin America is found. Filled with stunning images, the work tells the rich history that shaped the population inhabiting this region, from the colonization processes, the “tropeiros” (cattle drivers), the Farroupilha Revolution, to the entrepreneurship promoted mainly by Italian families and agriculture.
Famous figures like Anita Garibaldi are highlighted, along with families such as the Freitas, Guglielmi, and Angeloni, among many others, who significantly contributed to the economic development of the region, creating a bustling economic environment.
The stories of the coal mines, the first horse climbs up the Serra do Rio do Rastro and Corvo Branco, the creation of the Jorge Lacerda power plant, and the current models of sustainable energy capture, such as wind and solar power, which are widely employed in the region, are also featured. The work also explores shrimp fishing, the relationship between fishermen and dolphins, the farmers and agriculture on the beautiful Serra slopes, with numerous natural beauties, trails, hot springs, and breathtaking views.
